Address Old Injuries & Promote Mindful Body Care

The Vintage Athlete recognizes the importance of learning how to take care of your body in a gentle and mindful way. Former athletes often have old injuries that may linger or are not fully healed. The physical practice of yoga can address old injuries, promote healing, and prevent future imbalances, as well as increasing strength and mobility in the injured area. Through this practice, you can build a solid foundation of body awareness and learn to move with intention and compassion.

The Vintage Athlete Method.

At The Vintage Athlete, we take a unique and effective approach to supporting and coaching former and retired athletes that sets us apart from other methods. As a yoga and meditation teacher, licensed behavior analyst and certified nutrition coach with extensive study of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy/Training (ACT), Tara combines the evidence-based techniques of ACT with the beauty of yoga and meditation practices (which also have much evidence-based support).

This fusion leads to a deep health approach, helping athletes transition from their competitive sports life into a healthy and balanced relationship with both the body and the mind so that they can life a value-based life after sports.

What matters to each person is unique. Whether you retired from your sport yesterday or many years ago, the approach of The Vintage Athlete can help you with your unique needs and goals.

Behavior Change

These strategies help retired athletes recognize that trying to avoid or escape the painful experiences in their life after sports does not work and teaches how to accept this difficult content so that they can lead a more meaningful and connected life with emotional balance. In addition, these strategies are used to help retired athletes establish healthy fitness and nutrition routines that are suited to their body’s needs in their post-sport life.

Yoga

As athletes, we're accustomed to pushing our bodies to the limits, and yoga provides a perfect avenue to continue nurturing our physical fitness while also caring for our mental well-being.

Mindfulness

The practice of mindfulness, or present-moment awareness, through meditation and mindfulness practices is a key component to help former athletes move past the trap of getting stuck on the past or the future so that their actions are more flexible and consistent with the values they hold.
